How to use this viewer & editor
Purpose – This tool is designed for offline use. It is a browser-based, offline tool for reading and editing markdown (.md) files. You can open it directly in your browser, or save this HTML file locally and open it from your machine. All rendering and editing happen locally – no network traffic.
Viewing
Click Browse to select a markdown file from your computer.
Or drag and drop a markdown file onto the drop zone.
Or click Paste to paste markdown text directly into the tool.
Editing & saving
Click Edit: OFF to switch into edit mode. You will see the raw markdown in an editor.
As soon as you make changes, a floating save button appears on the left.
The first time you save, the browser will prompt you for a location on your hard drive (where supported by your browser).
After a location is chosen, the top button will overwrite that file; the bottom button lets you Save As… a new file.
In browsers that do not support direct overwrite, saving will download a .md file; you can still use Save As… to choose different names.
Appearance
The sun / moon icon toggles between day and night modes.
The Aᵃ icon opens a small slider you can use to adjust the text size. This affects only how the text is displayed; it does not change the underlying file.
After you load or paste content, the page heading becomes smaller so it does not interfere with reading.
